The 199er Swiss team game is an opportunity for newer players to experience playing against their peers in a team game prior to the upcoming Roadrunner regional tournament in Chandler. It is never too early to start prospecting for gold points by playing in team games. 199Ers may elect to play in either the 199er game or the open Eight is Enough game on Feb 12 at 1:30 PM.
The Eight is Enough format levels the team playing field to a degree because the strongest (Category A) players must team with less experienced players. Read on to see how it works. The following player Category cutoffs are in effect for the Eight is Enough Game:
Category A: 1,200 or more Master Points each
Category B: 400 to 1,199 Master Points each
Category C: Less than 400 Master Points each
Each Cat A player counts for 3 Player Points, each Cat B player counts for 2 Player Points, and each Cat C player counts for 1 Player Point. Thus a four person team may have up to but no more than 8 Player Points using any combination that meets the criteria, for example:
2 “A” and 2 “C” (8 Player Points)
4 “B” (8 Player Points)
1 “A”, 2 “B” and 1 “C” (8 Player Points)
3 “B” and 1 “C” (7 Player Points)
2 “B” and 2 “C” (6 Player Points)
1 “A” and 3 “C” (5 Player Points)
4 “C” (4 Player Points)
Once teams are formed and registered, the game will be stratified based on average Master Points of each team, so teams with fewer than the maximum number of Player Points can still compete for places in the lower strats.
Advance registration by Feb 6th is requested. The entry fee is $7.00/player for guests ($6.00 for Sun Lakes Club members). If you would like to enter a team, email your player names with master points and Captain's phone number to Jim Utter ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
