Announcement: Sun Lakes Change of Venue

Sun Lakes “at Oakwood' Duplicate Bridge Club will change the main location for its Open and 199er games beginning in April. The new location will be in Fellowship Hall of the Risen Savior Lutheran Church and School at 23914 S Alma School Road, Chandler, which is just outside of the Oakwood Lakes gate to the Oakwood subdivision. This change was voted by the club membership in reaction to the significant number of game cancellations being suffered due to preemption of the Oakwood clubhouse venue for other functions.

Coincident with the change of venue effective in early April, there will be some minor modifications to the regular game schedule. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday afternoon games will start at 1:30 PM, with players to arrive anytime after 12:45 PM. Saturday games will start at 9:00 AM as usual, except that on the second Saturday of every month, the game will start at 12:30 PM in the afternoon.

Until the annual Roadrunner tournament begins on March 28th, regular games will continue at the Oakwood clubhouse, but readers are cautioned to check for cancellations on the Sun Lakes web page, “www.unit351.com/sunoakwood.html”. The first game in the new venue will be at 1:30 PM on Monday April 4 (after the Roadrunner tournament). Going forward, the Sun Lakes club will be registered with ACBL as a multi-location club. This will permit the club, well in advance, to schedule a few regular games during the year at the Oakwood clubhouse location on dates when the lutheran Church location is otherwise booked. Again, readers are advised always to visit the website to verify game schedules and locations. If you do not personally have internet access, it is suggested that you ask a friend to check for you.
